Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Identify the elements of the doctor shopping law in their State
- Select the appropriate law enforcement agency to report doctor shopping offenses that take place in their clinic
- Choose the appropriate H.I.P.A.A. regulation that would allow a practitioner to report criminal offenses to law enforcement.
Statement of Need
Identifying and Reporting Doctor Shopping in the States of: Alabama and Colorado. Doctor Shopping laws and Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs have been provided in many states in an attempt to control abuse and diversion.
Method of Participation
This activity has a fee of $10.00 and should take approximately 0.5 hours to complete. Participants should first read the objectives and other introductory CE information, then proceed to the educational offering. To receive credit for this activity, participants must complete the post-test with a passing score of 80%, then complete the evaluation. This credit is valid through February 28, 2014. No credit will be given after this date.
